Dear Friends of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery
Thank you for contacting me about the government’s proposed staff and resource cuts to our precious Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG).
TMAG is a pillar of our state and must be supported to continue to thrive, not undermined. It holds a special place in the heart of Tasmanians.
I was disappointed to read reports 20 TMAG jobs are on the chopping block and then confused when Deputy Premier Guy Barnett said those reports were false but said that "across government there need to be efficiencies".
As the independent member for Clark, I’m grateful TMAG sits firmly in my electorate. I will add your letter to the many others I’ve received on this issue and advocate on behalf of your view and the others.
It’s infuriating we are fighting to save TMAG as stories of government waste and cost blowouts mount almost daily, and of course while spending on the AFL stadium boondoggle takes priority.
I support sensible budget repair and fair share revenue raising. Undermining TMAG though is not a sensible option.
You can find out more information about how I would approach budget repair and other issues of concern and advocacy at kristiejohnston.com.au or by following me on Facebook.

Thank you for advocating for TMAG. I appreciate you getting in touch.
