Artists' talks and viewing

Come along to hear from two of the artists featured in this innovative exhibition as they introduce their work and share insights into their creative processes.

Sara Morawetz is a conceptual artist who takes a research-driven, cross-disciplinary approach to her work. She’s keen on exploring how science works and the ways we understand things, often questioning the tools and systems we use to get precise answers. Even though science aims for accuracy and certainty, she shows that, out in the real world, things can get a bit unpredictable and playful.

Dylan Sheridan is a Tasmanian artist and composer who’s really pushing the envelope with experimental music and performance. He blends sound, live action, the audience and new technology to make works that sit somewhere between music, art and theatre. Dylan’s creations usually feature his own custom-made instruments, electronics, random objects and clever software, and he’s not afraid to take them out of the box – you’ll see his pieces popping up everywhere from concert halls and galleries to old gunpowder sheds and even car washes.

Meet at 10.30am in the Argyle Galleries at Sara’s Cut from the Same Cloth (Disassembly of Empire), then we’ll move upstairs to Dylan’s Music of Pieces. Please note that there will be only limited seating available: we’ll be on our feet and moving around the exhibitions.

Following the talks, grab a drink from the TMAG Café and join us for cake in the members’ lounge
